Session description:
Children and youth often experience significant stress during healthcare encounters, and rising behavioural escalations highlight the need for trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and team-based approaches. This session showcases how the Hospital for Sick Children’s Caring Safely for Children and Youth in Crisis interprofessional workshop uses virtual reality, AI-guided conversation, and standardized-patient role-play to strengthen collaborative skills in recognizing and managing escalation. Through brief demonstrations and shared lessons learned, presenters will explore how multi-modal simulation supports psychological safety, enhances interprofessional communication, and can be adapted across diverse educational and clinical contexts.
